I have been working with Colorado Pet Pantry for the last several years. The remarkable people I’ve met–from the warehouse to the top management–have impressed me with their unity of purpose and passion. 

At Colorado Pet Pantry, we believe no one should have to choose between feeding themselves and feeding their beloved pets. Since 2013, we’ve worked to ensure that pets stay with the families who love them—no matter what financial challenges come their way.

We are proud to be the largest direct-to-client pet food assistance program of our kind, not only in Colorado, but nationwide. Each month, we distribute pet food to approximately 100 pet food pantries across 33 Colorado counties. In 2024 alone, we provided over 7.3 million meals, helping more than 123,000 dogs and cats stay fed, safe, and at home. 

As we celebrate 12 years of keeping pets with their families, we’re inviting you to honor this milestone with a small but mighty gesture: $12 a month for 12 months.

Just $12/month helps feed at least two pets a whole month. That’s food in their bowls and peace of mind for the people who love them.

Because 100% of the pet food we distribute is donated, your financial gift helps us do everything else: transport food statewide, store it safely, coordinate volunteers, and reach more families in need.

Why Our Work Matters

So many families are just one emergency away from being unable to care for their pets. That’s where Colorado Pet Pantry comes in. By providing pet food assistance, which is 100% donated by generous individuals, brands, retailers, and distributors, we reduce shelter surrenders and help keep families whole.

We also embrace sustainability by accepting food that might otherwise go to waste due to packaging damage, labeling issues, or short expiration dates—making sure good food reaches hungry pets instead of landfills.

How We Do It

We distribute pet food directly by partnering with human food pantries. Why?

• These pantries already have strong community relationships.
• Shared space and resources help us stretch every dollar further.
• Providing pets with proper meals lets human food banks focus on feeding families.

Behind the scenes, our team works tirelessly to collect, store, and distribute pet food and supplies across the state—with the help of more than 1,100 volunteers. Their unwavering dedication fuels our mission and turns compassion into action, creating real change for pets and families throughout Colorado.

More Than a Meal 

While food is at the heart of what we do, our impact goes even further:

• Support over 100 animal rescues and nonprofits with food and supplies through our Animal Welfare Share Program. Other 501(c)3 nonprofits can help themselves to supplies they need from our huge warehouse.
• Partner with organizations like the American Red Cross to provide Pet Comfort Kits during emergencies, helping families and pets get through crises together.
• All the pet food we provide is generously given by individuals, businesses, and partners—making a huge difference for pets and families alike. Many individuals and businesses also support our mission by hosting pet food drives at schools, workplaces, events, and local communities. These grassroots efforts fill our shelves and keep tails wagging.
